For the first time ever, the Black Raven invites you to take part in a centuries old maritime tradition which only happens once a year! Since 1946, St. Augustine has celebrated the Blessing of the Fleet every year on Palm Sunday, when all of St. Augustine’s finest ships line up in the harbor to get blessed by the archbishop following a processional through the center of Spanish colonial St. Augustine, the Plaza de la Constitucion. This tradition reflects the European Catholic roots of the city when Catholic priests would bless merchant ships to ensure a safe a bountiful fishing season.
